60 Day Challenge - 2007
Grand Prize Winner
More to Lose Category

Lisa R.

What began as a major setback in my life, has become the most wonderful of blessings thanks to Teresa Tapp. I had been working hard at my job, as a nurse aide, in a nursing home. I love our elder citizens, and consider it an honor, to help them with their daily living needs. However, lots of lifting, nonstop walking, and standing, has taken its toll on me, in body and spirit. For too long, I'd worked everyday, with all sorts of daily aches and pains, so when my ankle started hurting back in November, I just kept going, thinking it would work itself out. I was a 44 year old, who some days, felt as old as the 94 year old, I helped walk to her meals each day. I love my work, and my family, but I couldn't imagine how I could continue on, the way I was feeling. As a wife, and mom of five children, ages 17, 16, 15, 10, and 8, I was losing the battle, on all fronts: Economically (my family needs my income), Physically (feeling 94, not 44), and Mentally/Emotionally (forgetting things, depression, mood swings, and daily headaches). I barely had anything left over to give... I prayed, and begged God to send me answers, and guide me, in the midst of this storm. Finally, by April, after waiting far too long, I went to see a foot specialist. I had Posterier Tibial Tendonitis. The tendon was not yet torn, which was good news, but I did have to be off work for 8 weeks, to allow the inflammation to go down, and the tendon to heal.

With the kids at school all day, I decided to search the Internet, for information about my condition. In the course of surfing the net, somehow, with the click of a mouse, I found T-Tapp. I can't remember how I came across it, but I thank God every day that I did. For 2 weeks, I read all I could find about T-Tapp. I kept going back to the T-Tapp website, to read the articles and forums (which are great!). It didn't take long to notice my first improvement. I had longtime trouble sleeping, as I would wake up repeatedly, during the night with hip and back pain. Usually, I would struggle to change positions, and after a while, fall back asleep. Since I was wearing a large brace/boot to immobilize my ankle, all I tried at first, was the 'sit down' routine, on the try before you buy section of the T-Tapp website. After 3 days, I noticed that I didn't wake up in pain during the night. Oh, how wonderful! I was so happy with what I'd read, and my results, from just the sit down exercise, that after a few weeks, when I no longer had to wear the brace, I started thinking, maybe T-Tapp could help me strengthen my ankle, as well as my body, so I could return to work successfully. I ordered the T-Tapp More program, as I figured everything considered, it would be a good starting place. I wanted to be healthier, stronger, and feel better, so I can do all the things I need to do, for my family.

I decided movement and fitness should be something I strive toward, for myself, as well to be a good role model for my children. My daughter Megan (who is 10 years old) was eager to join me in the 60-Day Challenge. At first, I was afraid...afraid I may not be able to do it, or I would let her down. Soon, the T-Tapp More DVD came, and we began the 60-Day Challenge together, on May 12th, 2007. We started with 14 days in a row... to get a routine down, and to feel committed. Those first few times, were so hard for me. I was so out of shape, just to hold my arms out to the side, while Teresa explained moves and the proper form, was sheer torture. I only held on, and kept going, because I knew my daughter's little eyes were upon me. I could tell she was very proud, and happy, to see me trying to exercise, and feel better. Each time, it got a little easier and we felt a little stronger.

We have been making better choices in our eating, since we've talked about the God Made/ Man Made way of eating. However, I felt it was most important, to establish the T-Tapp routine as part of our daily life, and not necessarily make drastic changes to our diet at first. I want this to really "stick" for us. After a few weeks of doing the More DVD, we even felt confident enough to order, and start, the Basic Plus routine, toward the close of the 60-Days. My depression, and mood swings improved, because one day when, I was a little less than nice, my daughter Megan said, "Mom, I think all you need, is to do our T-Tapp, then you'll feel better." I knew then, we were onto something good. Our next step will be to tackle Instructional 1 and 2.

I have since returned to work. I give great credit to T-Tapp, for helping me strengthen my body, my ankle, and my confidence. I began the challenge, wearing a size22 shorts, and now I can wear a comfortable size 20, and even...a tight size 18 ...in just 2 months! I have learned so much in the last 60 days... I've learned that with T-Tapp, I CAN exercise regularly ...60 days, and counting! Never before, in all of my 44 years, had I stuck with any exercise program! I have learned, I CAN feel better, and I CAN look better. T-Tapp is so, very, 'doable', for anyone, whether young, old, male, female, fit, or yet to be fit... I have learned, that with T-Tapp, I don't have to be afraid of failure...I really know, that if I am just consistent with doing the workouts, I will get there! I have learned that setbacks in life can indeed become blessings!

I plan to continue to T-Tapp toward my goals. In one year, August 4, 2008, my husband and I will be married 25 years, and I want to be fit, and healthy, and pretty for that day. When I reach my goal, I'd love to be a size 4. I very much, want to become a T-Tapp trainer. I want to teach Senior citizens T-Tapp, so they can avoid moving to a nursing home, and stay independent, as long as possible. I'd also love to teach children T-Tapp, so that they can be healthy, and fit for a lifetime.

I imagine this is the longest T-Tapp challenge essay on record, but I felt I just had to tell my story. I'm sure there are many, super people, who deserve the winner and grand prize spots. We have ALL worked very hard. My daughter and I have grown a lot, and enjoyed this 60-day challenge. I have worked harder, than I ever have, to start what is, my last journey, to fitness. I know, I CAN get there.
