Two years ago I entered my first T-Tapp 60 Day Challenge. I asked my mother to take the pictures and help me with the measurements and I dutifully emailed them by the start date. I was raring to go (or so I thought). My ambition lasted about 1 week. I "wanted" to want to do it, but I didn't want it bad enough and I stopped T-Tapping altogether. I watched as the Challenge continued and marveled at the pictures and stories of the winners. Afterwards, I drifted away from T-Tapp and the forum and actually I quit all forms of exercise until this year.
After hitting the big 4-Oh last year, I've started to think more about my body and keeping it functioning properly. Something was different this time and I really wanted to change not only the way I looked but also my health and my habits. I don't want to grow old and have to deal with aches and pains, and I want to live a long, healthy life and enjoy my family as it grows. So, one day this past spring, I dug out my T-Tapp tapes and dusted them off. I knew this was the answer but wondered to myself if I was up for the challenge. I started lurking on the forums regularly and reading over all of my old form tips I'd saved in a 3-ring binder. Little by little, my confidence began to rise. I found out that a trainer, 2 actually, lived within an hour of my home and immediately made an appointment with them to have a refresher session - and BOY DID I NEED IT! They were wonderful and I learned so much from them. My work was cut out for me.
Around the same time, I found out about the 2007 60-Day Challenge. Should I attempt another one, I thought. Will I go through with it? There was a fire in my belly this time that wasn't there 2 years ago. I wanted so badly to make some positive changes for myself and decided I had nothing to lose by at least entering. If nothing else, I had something to motivate me.
I started out by completing my 'first ever' boot camp. I followed by every other day, however some weeks I only fit in 2-3 workouts a week and still lost inches. I did more workouts in the first 30 days than the last 30 days, as life and vacations got in the way toward the end. I found that what I have to work on is making time for myself. A lot of times, I do everything else and leave no time for my workout. I also found, that I need to schedule it in the morning because I am more likely to be too tired at night to feel like working out. Many times, I pushed myself to do it anyway, and afterwards, I felt so refreshed and full of energy. I wondered why I had procrastinated so badly.
The more I T-Tapped, the more I craved healthier habits. I began reassessing my dietary menu. I visited a health food store and began researching healthier ways of eating, many of which I have easily incorporated into my life. I do not diet, but I do make healthier choices. I eat a lot more vegetables and good protein, and less of the processed foods, sugar, fatty meats. If I occasionally want a cookie or ice cream, or even a slice of pizza, I have it - in moderation of course. I prefer to give my body what is good for it and know that I will thank myself over time for doing so. I have also found since I've been T-Tapping that my sugar and carb cravings have almost disappeared. Sometimes if I'm feeling sluggish, especially after a meal, I will do a couple sets of hoedowns and it like a rush of energy is flowing through my veins. Finding a hiding place to do them is the tricky part! :-)
Another thing: Last week, I went to my doctor for a physical recheck. When she walked in the room, her mouth fell open and she just stared at me. She kept saying over and over "you look sooo good!" She remarked on the noticeable weight I'd lost and voiced her approval. She reviewed my chart and was very happy to see that my blood pressure was lower than ever before and my blood work from the week before was 'excellent'. Most notably, my cholesterol was down as well, which was good for having the test done after being on vacation and eating all the goodies that go along with that!
At the beginning of the Challenge I was wearing size 14/16 size clothing. I quickly went into size 12's within the first 30 days of T-Tapping and am now wearing many size 10's. I would say THIS is the BEST thing about T-Tapping. I'm loving this part for sure. It's probably been my biggest motivator - I cannot lie. I never thought I would be below a size 14 ever again. I really thought I was stuck there forever. Now, I know it's possible that I can get down to a size 8 and maybe even a 6. Eeek! Will wonders ever cease? I was sure my stomach was going resemble a pumpkin until eternity.
In conclusion, I'm very happy that I hung in there this time around and completed the 60-day T-Tapp challenge. I learned a lot about making myself accountable for doing my exercises and eating properly. I also confirmed to myself that this is a lifestyle I want to continue so that my quality of life, and those around me, is the fullest it can be. With T-Tapp, I can do that.
