Winner: Fit Get Fitter Category
Esther Williams
Hi, my name is Esther Williams. I am entered in the Less to Lose and Fit Get Fitter categories. I am 32 years old, married and live in Los Angeles, California.
My goal for the contest was not to lose as many inches as I could, rather, I focused more on my mental and physical health. For most of my life, my focus has been to look good on the outside. This meant that I would push myself to a grueling workout schedule and not feed myself very well in fear of gaining an extra pound. I was so busy trying to do fad diet #1 and a new workout program that promised 5 lbs. loss per week that I ignored a lot of what my body was trying to tell me. My body-mind connection was broken.
During the two months of the contest, I studied T-Tapp principles to understand how a workout that does not require the use of weights, jumping around and that only uses only 8 repetitions could provide such quick results. Having come from a traditional workout belief that heavy cardiovascular activities are required for results, I had to retrain my thinking. I guess it's de-brain washing to some degree. I wanted to break free from the feeling of guilt if I did not workout everyday.
As I studied and read the vast amount of information offered on the website and on the forum, I realized that with T-Tapp, I am killing two birds with one stone! I am fixing myself from the inside out AND I'm tightening and toning my body. From reading the experiences of other women, I saw that more is not always better. It's not about working out long and hard and fitting into a size 2, but it's about working out smarter and working with your body type, blood type and heritage.
With every T-Tapp workout I've done during this contest, I was constantly reminded that I was rewiring my body on the inside to work optimally. When I understood why neuro-kinetic flow was so important and why we needed to move in order to circulate our lymph system, a light bulb went on in my head. I've been working out for all of the wrong reasons in the past. Instead of wondering why my elimination system wasn’t working well, I was more focused on fitting into a pair of pants. I learned that as an AB+ blood type, I couldn’t have steaks frequently and expect to feel good. And I know that with my combo body leaning towards long torso, I will never look like my favorite models in magazines. I am learning how to work with what God gave me and being happy and grateful that I am healthy.
I know Teresa believes knowledge is power. I agree with her 100% because without T-Tapp, I think I would still be searching for that miracle diet or workout that would make me thin and happy. Could I have been thin with another workout? I think yes, but I've tried too many to know that the result would not have lasted. The pressure to keep up a program and to eat a certain way would have caught up with me and I would be back to square one. I've found a program I understand and that makes sense. It's also a program that fits into my life and not the other way around. It's taught me how to work with my body and not against it. The knowledge I've acquired during the two months has given me mental comfort. I don't have to panic anymore if I gain a few pounds. I don't have to go out and run 10 miles to "work it off." It is so liberating to live life free from worries about weight, food, etc. I'm learning how to listen to my body and taking a day off whenever necessary. My body-mind connection is back.
