60 Day Challenge
Winner: T-Tapp More Category

Amanda Pennell

As I undertook this newest T-tapp challenge I figured I had everything to lose, (Weight and inches) yet also everything to gain. (Health benefits and well being).

I have always been in the “slow losers” category, so I had no idea what goals to set for myself. In the end, I decided that just seeing it through to the end, would be a great accomplishment for me.

I started this journey w/ Lani’s super clinic in June, and thought I was headed off in the right direction. Well, that didn’t last long – I was so sore from the clinic that all I could manage for the first 4 days or so after that was PBS and a walk in my MT’s.

The next week I did a BC w/ the great “More” workout and started in on EOD. Then, Life happens, and I missed a few workouts. The great thing about T-tapp though, it is very forgiving. You can just pick up again and go forward from where you are. I continued doing the “More” w/o 2x’s a week and added a walk in my MT’s at least 3x’s a week.

Towards the end of July, I began using the Stepping w/o and tried to add DD and AL. Oh my – I think I wasn’t prepared for that. I just kept plugging away as best I could, going to my own personal max.

In the end, so many great health benefits have come from incorporating Teresa’s exercise program. When I started Tappin’ I had very severe Plantar Fascitis, lower back pain, and horrible Migraine headaches. I could hardly walk at all when I got out of bed, and KLT was almost impossible. “Just go to your personal max,” the voice in my head kept repeating over and over, and on some days that meant just getting through the day. Yet, little by little with each workout, my body began getting stronger and healing itself. I am now pain free when I wake up in the morning, and even after 10 hours at work, my feet and back no longer hurt.

My migraines were so bad that I couldn’t function. They were occurring almost 2x’s every week. The only salvation was medication and sleeping through them. I have now been migraine free for 6 weeks. This last weekend, I had to have a physical for a Life Insurance policy. My blood pressure was at an all time low of 93/64 and I now stood at 5’5” tall. Yeah. I grew an inch!

Even though I was not the “perfect” Tapper. I was truly a human one. I didn’t measure until the end and was extremely pleased to have lost 17 ¾” and 22lbs. I can now wear clothes that I haven’t fit into in over ten years.

But wait, there’s more. As wonderful as all of the above criteria are, they don’t come close to some of the greatest gifts this contest has given me:

When my 10-year class reunion came around, I did not attend because I was so ashamed of the way I looked, how heavy and out of shape I was. This summer was my 20-year class reunion, and even though I am a long way from my goal, I had achieved a new level of self-confidence in myself. Knowing “yes I can” and I “yes I am” making a difference in myself. I attended my reunion, had a wonderful time, and wasn’t the least bit ashamed of who I am.

But the best part – when I was younger I had played soccer for many years, then went on to coach some terrific youth leagues in my home town. I loved it. As my weight and health got out of hand, these things were no longer an option. As my children began playing their sports, I could only sit along side and watch, with my heart aching that I couldn’t help them. Now for the first time ever I will be coaching my youngest son’s soccer team this fall.

I will be forever grateful to Teresa for showing us the way to get stronger, leaner and healthier. Even though I am in the “slow loser” category and it took a lot of support from great trainer’s and my friends; Lani and Diane S, to show me that even someone with “More to Lose” can take the baby steps necessary to make T-Tapp work. I do believe that “Yes, you can.” with T-Tapp.
