Winner: Less to Lose Category
Stephanie Ackerman
I wasn’t sure I was going to enter the contest; it began the day I took a 12-hour flight to Israel. I spent 6 of the 8 weeks of the contest in a one-room apartment with my two children. We were at the Dead Sea where I enjoyed lots of salt and mud baths, but had to work out in 105-110 degree heat each day. I had many challenges to overcome, but T-Tapp can be done anywhere and I set out to prove it.
I brought with me a laptop and my dvd’s. I set out to Tapp 3 days a week and do PBS and SATI for the other three days. I alternated between T-Tapp to Tempo, Tempo Arms and Tempo Torso. The floor was cement, so I didn’t think it would be good for my back to do the HTF routines. I did however do AL, DD and OIP many days.
As hard as the floor was, it was my favorite part of the routine. I will never forget how great it felt after doing tempo in 110 degrees and then laying on the floor pressed against the coolness of the cement. I joked, “Who needs PG spray when you Tapp at the Dead Sea!”
Because of the heat, I slept late, so when I walked it was around 11 a.m. I would walk up and down the hills of the kibbutz, applying T-Tapp principles and sweat. I got a lot of stares, since people who live there walk at 6 a.m. I loved walking then. I would really sweat. I worked hard at keeping my shoulders back, NBT and KLT going up the hills.
Lunch was in the communal dining room and many people wanted to know why I would walk in the middle of the day. I got a chance to tell them about T-Tapp. I promised them that next summer when I return (as a trainer!) that I will do some clinics so they can learn to Tapp too.
I did achieve some inch loss and my body looks really fit. The greatest success though was the ice cream. I ate ice cream everyday, no fail. In fact I ate lots of food. By sticking with T-Tapp I was able to eat and still look and feel great at the end of journey.
